RN Staff Nurse I (Part time) - Dermatology
Position Summary
Provides direct patient care and education for patients receiving treatments, examinations, surgeries, etc., in a medical office according to established procedures.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Utilizes the nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating a plan of patient care.
- Provides patient care, which may include administering medication, performing procedures and monitoring patient status in accordance with approved nursing practice.
- Provides appropriate counsel and education to patients/families regarding disease process and symptom management.
- Maintains medical records requiring appropriate and timely recording of patient information.
- Consults with members of the health care team, adjusting nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Assists the health care provider with examinations, procedures, prescription refills and other processes related to direct patient care.
- Maintains required skills and competencies and participates in educational programs, staff meetings and in services such as CPR as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
Job Location/Working Conditions: Normal office environment, Exposure to blood-borne pathogens, Requires protective devices, Patient care setting, Direct patient care setting. Physical Effort: Typically sitting at desk or table, Repetitive wrist, hand or finger movement, Occasional lifting (25 lbs. or less). Equipment: Office equipment, Clinical/diagnostic equipment.
Required Qualifications
Education: Associate degree - Nursing. Certifications: Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, Basic Life Support - American Red Cross, Registered Nurse - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Registered Nurse - Missouri Division of Professional Registration. Work Experience: No specific work experience required. Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Current RN licensure in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location, in accordance with Compact Act. Basic Life Support certification.
