Senior Assistant Director of Transfer Admission & Enrollment Services
Position Overview
Merrimack College, which is one of the fastest-growing educational institutions in the country and is located just minutes from Boston, Massachusetts, is seeking an energetic, highly motivated, and goal-driven professional to join the Office of Undergraduate Admission.
Reporting to the Director of Transfer Admission & Enrollment Services, the Senior Assistant Director of Transfer Admission & Enrollment Services will share responsibility for meeting institutional enrollment goals and serve as an advisor to prospective students and their families, both transfer, off-cycle freshmen, and non-traditional students. They will serve as front-line contact for parents and students through the matriculation cycle to support successful enrollment and retention.
The Senior Assistant Director of Transfer Admission & Enrollment Services will be a generalist and a specialist in enrollment areas including admission, orientation, financial aid, transfer credits and curriculum, and billing. This person will also contribute to the development and implementation of recruitment plans for prospective transfer students. They will lead transfer credit evaluation and systems maintenance for new students in Merrimack’s undergraduate programs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve on the Undergraduate Admission team responsible for application generation, decisions and yield for transfer students, off-cycle first-time freshmen, and non-traditional students; act as territory manager for Transfer and January/Spring and late Spring/Summer first-year applicants.
- Provide exceptional customer service by establishing channels of communication with prospective students to introduce them to and inform them of Merrimack College; facilitate their relationship with the institution throughout the admission process starting at the inquiry stage through their enrollment at the college.
- Develop and execute recruitment plan and budget for all transfer student recruitment events with a focus on primary, secondary and tertiary market community colleges and previous first-time freshmen applicants.
- Represent Merrimack College to prospective students and their families by attending off campus recruitment events, which include college fairs/tabling events and individual visits at community colleges, in addition to conducting on–campus transfer events for students, families, and transfer advisors.
- Counsel and advise prospective students, their families, transfer advisors and other community members about the transfer admission process, transfer credit options, course selection at non-Merrimack institutions and effectively communicate Merrimack’s value proposition.
- Work with advising center staff and faculty to coordinate new student advising meetings and course registration.
- Assist in the maintenance and quality control of student records, transfer policies and transfer credit records, manage day-to-day credit coordination in transfer equivalency systems, and transfer credit review process for transfer and first-year student in collaboration with the office of the registrar and faculty.
- Develop and maintain a network of transfer advisor contacts. Keep these contacts apprised of current news about the Merrimack community and develop pathways to Merrimack for their students.
- Participate and represent Merrimack College through meetings, presenting group information sessions and active participation in signature programming such as Open Houses, Admitted Student Days, Shadow Days, and Orientation.
- Understand and effectively communicate enrollment and college information. Maintain knowledge of multiple departments which include but are not limited to: Admission, Financial Aid, Student Accounts and Advising.
- Build effective professional working relationships with people at all levels across the campus, who are involved in recruitment, enrollment and retention of new undergraduate students.
- Supervise, provide ongoing training and delegate daily responsibilities to graduate fellow(s).
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred
- Valid U.S. driving license required.
- 3-5 years of professional experience, preferably in recruitment, sales, or admission.
- Experience working with transfer students and their families.
- Professional and positive customer service, phone etiquette, and written communication
- Demonstrate excellent communication ability and problem-solving skills to explain, facilitate and improve upon Merrimack’s student services.
- Self-starter with a positive attitude, proactive mindset, and strong work ethic.
- Ability to use critical thinking skills and demonstrate professional judgement.
- Skilled at learning, organizing, researching and recalling a wide range of information while staying up to date with the enrollment and retention priorities.
- Strong time management skills, the ability to multitask and prioritize work and adhere to a strong sense of professionalism.
- A strong knowledge of office management responsibilities, systems and procedures.
- Willing to work in a metrics driven position
- Experience with MS Office, Google Suite, Slate CRM, Jenzabar, TES, and other Merrimack and enrollment systems.
- Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed at various times throughout the year.
