Oxford Lifelong Learning in the Department for Continuing Education is seeking to appoint a Senior Course Administrator (English Language Courses and Projects). The role requires the postholder to work effectively with minimal direct supervision, demonstrating initiative and strong organisational skills. They will be primarily responsible for the successful administration of the Oxford Test of English (OTE) suite of online language proficiency tests at the Department’s Test Centre and for the planning and delivery of a range of longstanding and bespoke short courses such as summer schools, for both international and UK-based organisations and institutions and on assessment projects and teacher development courses with colleagues at Oxford University Press.

About the role

You will be responsible for administering a portfolio of open enrolment and short bespoke residential and online professional development courses for teachers. You will also invigilate OTE tests, provide administrative support for the student lifecycle on short professional development courses from end-to-end. The courses are tailored to the needs of different groups of teachers and educators, both national and international, throughout the year.

During the weeks in which the courses run, you will need to adjust your working week and work outside of normal office hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on the type of course.

The post is initially available on a 1.0 FTE contract for a 12-month period. Your working hours are likely to vary from week to week depending on the days and times on which tests have been scheduled, so a high degree of flexibility is required. You will be required to work across two sites (Rewley House and Ewert House).

About you

You’re a proactive administrator who thrives on variety and possesses the organisational flair  to manage the full student lifecycle for diverse professional development courses.

You’re a team player with a meticulous approach to administering short, bespoke courses from initial conception through to completion, evaluation and review. You will have significant experience of working in an office (preferable in an educational environment), have excellent administrative and course organisation, skills and an ability to work collaboratively and flexibly within a team. You will have excellent time management skills and an ability to prioritise deadlines, which will allow you to work with minimal supervision.

Discretion and a professional and helpful manner in dealing with a wide range of people on video calls, via email or in person are essential.  You must be competent in using a range of Microsoft Office applications, and be willing to use technology to the full to enhance administrative processes. You should have a very good standard of numeracy and experience of working with data. A strong customer focus and excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
