Job Summary:
The Department of Pharmacology is actively engaged in uncovering fundamental mechanisms of biological systems, so that they can be targeted and manipulated in a therapeutic context to treat or prevent disease. Our mission is to advance the field of Pharmacology through innovative and impactful research, and through training the next generation of scientists. While the classic definition of Pharmacology is the study of drugs, their toxicology, and their therapeutic use, we define pharmacology more broadly.
We are seeking applications for an IT Senior Professional. This position is an integral part of the Department of Pharmacology administration team and will also support the Neurotechnology Center (NTC). They will provide desktop, application, server, and website support, serving as a backup and collaborator for the Communications administrator. This individual will serve as a departmental resource relating to all information technology needs and policies. They will be part of a closely knitted administrative team who thrives under collaboration and a respectful work ethic.
Key Responsibilities:
Desktop support
- Desktop support for Pharmacology owned resources (Dell and apple computers, Konica Minolta copiers, iPads, local printers, peripherals, televisions, Cisco phones, and other basic AV equipment).
- Assist in the purchase, installation, and ongoing maintenance of new and existing computers, software, and peripherals.
- Maintain monthly logs of copier usage, Isilon data storage usage, and Track OIT Billing reports to ensure all phone lines are needed.
- Attend off-site and after-hour events as needed to ensure IT needs are met for department.
- Create and implement efficiencies with existing software and devices in department (i.e. television screens or overhead projectors for departmental conference rooms).
Application support
- Implement University information systems and protocols, confirming compliance with accessibility and IT procurement policies.
Work Location:
Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 4 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings in Aurora, CO.

Located on the beautiful University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, and near the Rocky Mountains, the Department of Pharmacology is housed in the Research 1 North and South buildings. We are one of six basic science departments on campus. The candidate will have the opportunity to help contribute towards the success of our rapidly growing Department. We recently hired three new faculty and will be onboarding a fourth in July 2025. The department has continuously ranked among the top fifteen Pharmacology departments across the nation for NIH funding to individual researchers and academic institutions by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of professional level experience that includes experience in a research or educational environment.
+ A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with University of Colorado systems.
- Experience with Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- Experience with computer networking as well as hardware troubleshooting and assembly.
- Experience with Smartsheet.
- Experience with Web Design
- Experience supporting AV equipment
- Experience with using remote support tools
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to convey technical information to technical and non-technical users and to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
- Professional, service-oriented, meticulous, and detail oriented. Readily takes ownership and responsibility for work.
- Inquisitive, self-starter with the ability to work independently while also contributing to team efforts.
- Ability to create and maintain business requirements and other technical documentation.
Detail-oriented, responsible, conscientious in the observance of deadlines.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $68,114 - $86,641.
