About the Role

This is a senior leadership opportunity to shape and advance Flinders University’s commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and knowledges. The Senior Manager - Office of Indigenous Strategy and Engagement provides strategic leadership in Indigenous engagement and policy, contributing to the development and implementation of the University’s Reconciliation Action Plan, Indigenous strategy, strategic priorities, and Indigenous Student Success initiatives.

Overseeing the Office of Indigenous Strategy and Engagement, you will guide a high‑performing team and work in close partnership with the Pro‑Chancellor (Indigenous). You will provide authoritative advice, insight and influence at the most senior levels of the University, contributing to decisions that have lasting impact across policy, culture and practice.

This role offers the opportunity to embed Indigenous perspectives across the University’s policy lifecycle and major initiatives, and to drive meaningful outcomes for Indigenous staff, students and communities. Your leadership will be visible, valued and essential to the University’s ongoing journey of reconciliation and self‑determination.

About You

With a tertiary qualification and/or substantial senior experience in higher education leadership, you bring strong project management, organisational and governance capability. You are skilled in leading complex initiatives, undertaking research and analysis, and working effectively both autonomously and in partnership with others.

You possess a high level of oral communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, including the ability to exercise sound judgement when dealing with complex and sensitive matters and the ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels, both internal and external to the University

You also bring a deep understanding of Indigenous priorities, initiatives and challenges within the Australian higher education context, and the ability to apply this knowledge to deliver culturally informed, strategic outcomes.
