  • Reference number: 25668
  • Term: Fixed-term, full-time basis for three (3) years
  • Remuneration: $158,080 to $165,606 pa (HEW9) (inclusive of $133,579 to $139,939 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)
  • Location: Kelvin Grove (hybrid option available)
  • Open to: Current staff members of QUT who have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of the fixed-term appointment. In support of our strategic priority of Indigenous Australian success, Aboriginal Australians and Torres Strait Islander people who are not QUT staff are also eligible and encouraged to apply. Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Senior Records Specialist to join QUT Governance, Administrative Division.

The Senior Records Specialist holds a pivotal leadership role in advancing the university’s records and information management capability. The position will focus on responding to the requirements of the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence (the Gender-based Violence Code) to ensure QUT is compliant with the mandatory legislative and reporting requirements of the Code as they relate to recordkeeping and management. This will involve providing strategic advice and designing and implementing a records framework across the university in response to the Code, as well as other evolving legislative and regulatory requirements. This will ensure the university’s recordkeeping practices are compliant and aligned with institutional objectives.

QUT Governance is responsible for a range of administrative functions and provides committee services to Council and university-level committees in support of decision-making.

The Department provides support to other governance and compliance activities, including right to information and privacy, records management, and the development and review of university policies.

The Department administers the University’s enterprise risk management and oversees business continuity management.

QUT Governance provides guidance on quality activities as they relate to the national regulator (the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency), including managing compliance with mandated higher education standards..

What you need to succeed

  1. Education, training, and/or relevant experience equivalent to completion of a relevant postgraduate qualification, together with extensive relevant experience in records management.
  2. Extensive knowledge of records management principles, practices and regulatory environment with demonstrated experience in corporate recordkeeping.
  3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively consult, negotiate and establish productive partnerships with diverse stakeholder groups.
  4. Ability to apply analytical skills, effectively prioritise work and operate efficiently and with agility to meet key project objectives and milestones or to meet operational deadlines.
  5. Demonstrated experience in utilising systems functionality to develop tailored recordkeeping solutions.
  6. Demonstrated experience in developing communication strategies and training plans and in delivering training to a variety of audiences.
  7. Demonstrated experience in staff management and supervision, including the ability to develop, maintain and work effectively under a collaborative team approach.
