UNSW Institute for Climate Risk & Response
The UNSW Institute for Climate Risk & Response (ICRR) is seeking expressions of interest from experienced project support professionals to join our team on a casual basis.
This role will support the academic team in delivering advisory, research translation and capability projects for industry and public sector clients, including Federal and State Government agencies.
About the Role
The Casual Project Support Staff member will work closely with academic leads and the Institute Manager to provide structured coordination and delivery support across multiple concurrent projects.
Projects may include:
- Development of guidance materials, case studies and advisory outputs
- Industry and government-facing workshops and executive programs
- Stakeholder consultation and structured interviews
- Milestone-based contract delivery
- Preparation of publication-ready materials
This role suits someone with strong administrative discipline and experience supporting projects in government, consulting or regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate project timelines and track deliverables against agreed scopes
- Support milestone tracking and documentation requirements
- Schedule meetings, interviews and workshops with industry and public sector stakeholders
- Manage document control, versioning and consolidated feedback processes
- Prepare briefing notes, meeting summaries and project updates
- Support formatting and preparation of client-ready materials
- Maintain accurate records and support compliance with governance requirements
- Identify and escalate delivery risks
Essential Criteria
- Experience supporting projects within or alongside Federal, State or Local Government, or regulated industry environments
- Understanding of public sector or corporate governance processes
- Strong written communication skills suitable for professional audiences
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Ability to work flexibly across multiple projects
- Confidence working with academic and senior stakeholder teams
Desirable
- Experience in climate risk, sustainability, adaptation or net zero programs
- Experience supporting executive-level engagements
- Familiarity with university environments
- Experience in document-heavy or policy-focused projects
Engagement
- Casual engagement, with hours dependent on project pipeline
- Hybrid working arrangements available
- Based in Sydney (Kensington), with flexibility
