"Senior Writer and Copy Editor"

SENIOR WRITER AND COPY EDITOR, Communications, Events, Donor Relations, and Stewardship, reporting to the Senior Director of Communications in the Office of Resource Development (RD), will be a creative communications professional who contributes to and implements content strategies across digital, print, and multimedia channels in support of MIT fundraising priorities, RD events marketing, publications, and stewardship reporting; conceptualizes and produces original content; conducts research; interviews subjects and edits and repurposes content from a variety of sources to build the MIT story of philanthropy and enable fundraisers to maximize donor support; and copy edits a wide range and high volume of communications, ensuring text is clear, consistent, grammatically correct, and accessible. REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree, preferably in journalism, communications, or a related discipline; a minimum of three years of professional writing and copy-editing experience; exceptional writing skills, a proven ability to write in and edit for another person's voice; project management abilities, including developing and maintaining schedules and coordinating reviews; and excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. PREFERRED: Experience developing promotional copy for print and digital media; analytic and research skills to gather and determine utility of information from a variety of sources; experience working with a large volume of concurrent projects; understanding of higher education, fundraising, and science and technology; experience with Adobe Creative Suite, web content management systems, and project management software in a Mac environment.
