Brief Summary of Work for this Position:

The English Language Center (ELC) provides intensive English instruction, cultural programming, and comprehensive support services to international students, helping them succeed in academic and professional settings. The Temporary English Language Center Program Associate will:

  • Coordinate day-to-day program operations.
  • Process ELC applications in an expedient manner.
  • Advise ELC students on immigration, personal, and other matters.
  • Coordinate events and programs such as airport pick-ups, orientation, welcome dinners, trips, graduation, Conversation Partner Program, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with on- and off-campus student support services (Housing/home-stay, Health Center, Auxiliary Services, service learning opportunities, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Work with the ELC Director to implement the communication plan for prospective and current students, campus and community partners.
  • Manage website content for ELC pages.
  • Manage ELC social media platforms.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Excellent command of the English language, written and oral, and effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Work outside of scheduled hours and/or on the weekend may be required.
  • Ability to drive a 15-passenger van.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalency and one year of experience coordinating ESL or other university programs; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • International admissions experience.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a strong ability to work autonomously and take initiative without direct supervision.

Anticipated Hiring Range:

$20-$22 / hour

Special Instructions to Applicants:

Please note, this is a temporary position. The length of the assignment will be based on department need with the possibility of continuation. Temporary assignments cannot exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31-day break from employment. Employees in temporary positions are not considered permanent state employees and do not earn leave. Temporary employees are subject to the Affordable Care Act guidelines.
