Director
The Director is responsible for providing our diverse student body with access to global engagement opportunities through the full-cycle management and administration of all education abroad programs (including faculty-led, virtual programs, research abroad, and global internships) for 450+ students. The oversight of education abroad will require providing direct service, management and supporting the development of policy as it relates to comprehensive internationalization, crisis management, program development, financial management, office administration, student advising and student health and safety.
The Director provides direct support and leadership to a full-time staff of one Assistant Director and a Study Abroad Coordinator. They also supervise several student workers.
While the Director reports to the Associate Provost, they will also work closely with the Senior Director to administer and expand UNCG’s study abroad and exchange programs.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree with an international focus
- Outstanding intercultural sensitivity.
- Exemplary written and verbal competency and excellent computer skills
- Experience working, living, and/or studying abroad
- Three or more years of related experience, including experience supervising others.
- The incumbent must be able to relate to students of diverse backgrounds and work effectively with multiple administrative and academic offices.
- This position requires the ability to develop and interpret policies and procedures of both UNCG and partner institutions and advise stakeholders accordingly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three to five years of experience working in the education abroad field, preferably in a public higher educational system like UNC, would be advantageous to this position.
