This role supports both long‑term strategic initiatives, including the Space Strategy 2026–2032, and a diverse range of day‑to‑day space requests, relocations and planning projects across UQ’s extensive and award‑winning estate.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responding to space requests from University stakeholders, providing options and advice to optimise space utilisation.
  • Preparing space planning layouts, test‑fits and configuration options that align with University space policy guidelines and statutory requirements.
  • Analysing spatial requirements, utilisation data and constraints to develop planning scenarios, reports and recommendations.
  • Contributing to space reconfigurations and relocations, including staging and decant strategies, and supporting continuous improvement of space planning processes and tools.

About you

  • Demonstrated ability to analyse spatial requirements and develop practical, well‑reasoned planning solutions.
  • Experience preparing space planning layouts or spatial diagrams using CAD, BIM or similar design software.
  • Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to interpret and respond to diverse stakeholder needs.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of service.
  • Experience working with data, reports or spatial information to support planning and decision‑making.
  • Experience using relevant software packages including Microsoft Office, Autodesk products, Adobe Creative Suite and integrated facilities management platforms such as Archibus or similar.
  • Experience with staff supervision, mentoring and performance management, or readiness to step into a supervisory role as required.
