Sr Clinic Assistant
Employees in this classification are in the senior position of this career track and provide patient care management to an assigned clinic in the areas of clerical and clinical duties. In the clinical setting, the employee receives direct supervision from a physician or nursing supervisor in either oral or written form. In the office setting, the employee receives direct supervision from the department administrator. May supervise other Medical Assistants, clerical staff and student positions. Work is performed under usual office and clinic conditions, and may be stressful when working under emergency conditions.
Major/Essential Functions
- Perform patient intake including vital signs, medication reconciliation, and detailed neurological symptom history
- Assist providers during neurological exams (e.g., coordination, reflex, cognitive, and motor assessments)
- Coordinate care for patients with chronic neurological conditions
- Schedule diagnostic testing, follow-ups, and specialty referrals
- Provide patient and caregiver education on treatment plans, medications, and safety precautions
- Assist patients with mobility or cognitive impairments during visits
- Manage prior authorizations for neurology-specific medications and procedures
- Accurately document neurological histories, symptoms, and provider findings in the EHR
Occasional Duties
- Supervisor team members, volunteers, students and interns.
- Other tasks/duties as assigned to accomplish the goals/mission of the Memory Clinic and the GIA.
