Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in higher education, student affairs, social work, counseling, psychology, or related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of professional work experience in higher education, social work, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience with case management in a higher education setting involving student conduct, student care, or crisis intervention.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Effectively communicate through both verbal and written communication, including public speaking.
- At least 2 years of experience with case management software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in higher education, student affairs, social work, counseling, psychology, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience adjudicating student conduct cases in a higher education setting.
- Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced setting that handles urgent situations concerning student well-being.
- Experience analyzing data and reporting trends in writing and through data visualization.
- Experience in addressing alcohol/drug abuse, threats, disruptions, disorderly conduct, and other conduct/standards violations.
- Experience with conduct or case management software such as Maxient, EAB’s Navigate360, or similar software systems.
Job Description
The Student Conduct Officer III serves as the mid-level practitioner in Student Conduct and Community Standards who primarily oversees complex and escalated cases, with a strong emphasis on student organization conduct, including hazing-related matters. This position leads advanced investigations, conducts hearings, and determines outcomes for mid- to high-level cases that are referred or elevated from lower-level officers due to complexity, risk, or potential impact. The role applies expert judgment in policy interpretation, due process, and sanctioning to ensure fair, consistent, and educationally grounded outcomes. Through close collaboration with campus partners and careful case oversight, the Student Conduct Officer III supports institutional accountability, risk management, and the integrity of the student conduct process. This position serves on the expressive activity team.
Job Duties
Conduct Case Management & Adjudication
- Manage and resolve complex and escalated individual and student organization conduct cases, including matters referred from lower‑level officers due to complexity, pattern behavior, or potential risk.
- Lead investigations into alleged violations of the Code of Student Conduct, with primary responsibility for student organization and hazing-related cases, including interviewing involved parties and reviewing evidence.
- Conduct formal administrative hearings and issue well‑reasoned findings and sanctions that align with university policy, due process, and sanctioning precedent.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and audit‑ready case records in the conduct management system, ensuring procedural integrity and documentation standards.
Student Organization Conduct & Accountability
- Oversee student organization conduct processes by working directly with organization leaders and advisors to promote accountability, risk reduction, and educational outcomes.
Collaboration, Risk Management & Campus Response
- Collaborate and communicate with campus partners—including University Police, Housing and Residential Life, Student Involvement, Title IX, Disability Services, and Academic Affairs—on cases involving shared concerns or safety implications.
- Serve on institutional response teams, including the Expressive Activities Team, to support coordinated responses to student behavior and community impact situations.
Assessment, Reporting & Strategic Planning
- Prepare and analyze conduct data and assessment reports (monthly, semester, and annual) to identify trends, inform prevention efforts, and support operational planning.
Division & Institutional Engagement
- Contribute to divisional initiatives within the Dean of Students Office and perform related duties that advance student success, accountability, and community standards.
