Student Leaders in Civic Engagement (Pool) - Mount Wachusett Community College
General Statement of Duties
Plan and implement service learning and volunteer opportunities and other civic programming on campus and in our community.
Responsibilities
- Work as an employee of the Center for Civic Learning and Community Engagement to supplement civic programming at the college;
- Primary responsibility will be to recruit and manage student volunteers and service learning students from the college. Provide support and response to student questions and needs regarding service learning and volunteering;
- Provide campus-wide volunteer opportunities and civic education events/programming for students;
- Plan and implement volunteer and service learning opportunities for students;Recruit MWCC students as volunteers for various opportunities, including on-campus events, service learning and volunteer opportunities;
- Ensure that MWCC students providing service learning or volunteer hours are familiar with how to report service hours and fill out necessary paperwork; provide training as necessary;
- Work with Center staff and faculty to conceptualize and implement service learning projects and events;
- Attend bi-weekly SLICE meetings / professional development training;
- Plan at least two campus-wide volunteer opportunities each semester (ex. Dialogues, Alternative Spring Break, United Way Day of Caring, etc.);
- Submit monthly reports to the program director;
- Perform other duties as necessary to enhance the success of the program.
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Must have completed at least one semester at MWCC, and be currently enrolled, or a recent graduate (within 2years);
- Be able to commit to 10 hours a week/ 500 hours total;
- Proven leadership ability, record of volunteerism/service, positive attitude, flexibility and a desire to positively impact the college and the local community is necessary;
- Must be able to commit to a week-long Training in August;
- Commit from August- June.
Desired Qualifications
- Must maintain a 3.0 GPA with a 3.3+

Additional Information
- Salary: $16.50-$18.00 per hour
- Hours per Week: up to 12
- Number of Weeks: 44
