Macquarie University is seeking a Student Safety and Culture Officer to play a pivotal role in coordinating and delivering evidence-informed initiatives that address Gender-based Violence (GBV) prevention and promote a positive student safety culture.
This is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to real change in the higher education sector. Working within the Student Integrity and Culture team, you will support Macquarie University in meeting its obligations under the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence. Your work will ensure that programs are trauma-informed, person-centred, culturally appropriate, and accessible to our diverse student community.
Reporting to the Manager, Student Safety and Culture, you will collaborate with students, staff, external experts, survivors, and affected communities to build effective partnerships and deliver measurable outcomes.
About the Role
The Student Safety and Culture Officer provides coordination and support for evidence-informed student safety and culture initiatives, with a particular focus on GBV prevention education and training. Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating the delivery of student safety and culture initiatives using diverse delivery methods, including education and training programs on complex harmful behaviours and GBV prevention.
- Preparing training materials, resources, and presentations using established templates, frameworks and digital platforms.
- Liaising with students, staff, external experts, survivors, and affected communities to support program delivery and engagement.
- Ensuring all initiatives align with higher education best practice and are trauma-informed, person-centred, culturally appropriate, inclusive, and accessible.
- Implementing evaluation frameworks, analysing findings, and using data-driven insights and latest research and practices, to inform and improve ongoing programs and campaigns.
- Executing an 'always on' student safety and culture communications and engagement campaign in collaboration with marketing and communication stakeholders.
- Preparing reports on program effectiveness, evaluation findings and continuous improvement efforts.
- Providing secretariat and administrative support, including coordinating meetings, preparing agendas, briefing materials, and meeting documentation.
