POSITION SUMMARY
The Library strategically aligns our programs to improve institutional student learning goals. We leverage the benefits of student-centered, active learning to improve student outcomes. The Student Success and AI Librarian will focus on the design and execution of projects in support of on-campus and concurrent enrollment information literacy instruction, research, AI adoption and success, and retention efforts. Moreover, the person in this position will support the Director of Library and Educational Resources Department with outreach and assessment activities and participation in committee assignments as needed.
OVERVIEW OF CCA
The Community College of Aurora serves our diverse community by providing high-quality instruction and support services to prepare students for transfer and employment. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with colleagues from other departments and divisions to develop and assess student-centered information literacy programs, workshops, lesson plans, tutorials, and research guides.
- Provide outreach focused on student, faculty and instructor engagement through the creation of co-curricular programming.
- Engage in the assessment of library services and student learning outcomes by implementing the 6-step Assessment Cycle, thereby contributing to CCA's comprehensive assessment of student success and continuous improvement framework.
- Offer guidance on AI tools, including selecting the appropriate tool, using AI ethically in accordance with departmental procedures, and applying AI to enhance information literacy skills.
- Provide in-person and online support in reference, research, and the use of AI.
- Staff the service desk as needed.
- Work occasional evening or weekend hours.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- ALA-accredited master's degree in library or information science, or masters in a related field with community college library experience.
- Demonstrated proof of initiative.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Experience providing information literacy instruction.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with AI tools.
- One-year experience working in an academic library.
- Coursework in or professional experience with student-centered instructional strategies.
- Experience in creating co-curricular library programming.
- Experience working with student success initiatives in a college or university setting.
- Experience providing chat reference.
- Experience working with Libguides, tutorial design software, chat reference software, or D2L (or other LMS).
- Experience with inclusive excellence.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Salary Range: Anticipated starting salary range is $58,200.00 annually. This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan, including generous leave, holiday, and education benefits. Full time employees immediately upon hire earn 15 hours a month annual leave and 10 hours a month sick leave.
