Description
Position Summary: Candidates should be prepared teach music theory 1 and 2 (freshman music theory). Candidates must have a Christian commitment and the ability to integrate the Christian faith with traditional coursework.
General faculty responsibilities include teaching and other responsibilities assigned by the Associate Dean.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach music theory classes
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Dean
Physical Requirements
- Hearing: Hear well enough to teach ear training and sight singing
- Dexterity: Ability to play examples in class
- Mobility: Teach classes, move between departments, and attend meetings across campus.
- Talking: Teaching classes.
- Cognitive/Emotional: Ability to critically think and concentrate.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
This position is a part-time position in the Cline School of Music and reports to the Associate Dean of the School.
WORK SCHEDULE
These theory courses meet four days each week (Wednesday is the off day) from 11:15 to 12:05.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in music theory or a related field
- Preference will be given to applicants holding a terminal degree
- Experience and a passion for teaching
- Evidence of scholarly potential
- Experience in music theory
- Supports NGU’s mission statement and core values, commitment to a Christian lifestyle and character in keeping with biblical model
- Affirm an understanding of the Baptist Faith & Message 2000
- Affirm understanding of the University’s Statement on Human Flourishing
- Agree to abide by the employee handbooks, including community standards agreements.
