Primary Purpose of the Position:
The Talent Acquisition Consultant serves as WSSU's strategic recruiting and workforce planning advisor partnering with leaders and hiring managers to forecast talent needs, build diverse pipelines, and execute end-to-end recruitment, selection, and onboarding. The role consults on policy and compliance (OSHR/UNC System), leads training for hiring managers, and uses data to drive decisions (time-to-fill, quality-of-hire, equity). In addition to filling current needs, the consultant develops talent pools, succession pipelines, and critical-skills/gap analyses to ensure WSSU is ready for future demand and aligned to institutional priorities.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education:
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master's degree
- PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP
- PeopleAdmin certification
- Higher-education or public-sector HR experience
- Experience with workforce planning, succession planning, and skills/gap analytics.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Expert knowledge of PeopleAdmin (ATS) and working knowledge of Banner, I-9/E-Verify, and MS/Google productivity tools.
- Strong command of OSHR/UNC System policies (SHRA/EHRA, EPS classifications, career-banding), and compliance frameworks (EEO/AA, ADA, FCRA, OFCCP).
- Demonstrated ability to advise leaders, influence decisions, and manage sensitive compensation/internal equity discussions with discretion.
- Proficiency in data analysis & reporting; translating insights into action (dashboards, KPIs).
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation design, and facilitation skills.
- Customer-focused, organized, and capable of managing multiple searches/projects with deadlines.
