Visiting Assistant Professor of Music, Cello Stetson University, School of Music POSITION The Stetson University School of Music seeks a vibrant, outstanding musician for a full-time, nine-month teaching position as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music, Cello in Academic Year 2024-25. This faculty member will enhance the School of Music's high standards of excellence in performance and academics, and will prepare undergraduate students for continued placement in acclaimed graduate programs and successful professional careers. QUALIFICATIONS The successful candidate will bring a proven record of performance excellence and effective teaching experience to Stetson’s undergraduate cello studio. A broad knowledge of solo, chamber, and orchestral repertoire is expected. We are especially interested in candidates who have a strong commitment to all aspects of diversity in our learning-centered community. A master’s degree is required and a doctoral degree in performance or ABD status is highly desired. RESPONSIBILITIES Essential duties include teaching applied cello, coaching chamber music ensembles, and coordinating Stetson’s Chamber Music Program. The new faculty cellist will also contribute to classroom coursework in another core music area based on the candidate’s qualifications and the needs of the School of Music. In addition, active participation in helping recruit a diverse body of talented cellists is expected.
