Job Title
Teacher, Reading - Upward Bound Program

Essential Job Functions

• Designs and delivers developmentally appropriate courses aligned with established curriculum goals and learning outcomes.
• Teaches assigned Reading courses and conducts the required number of instructional contact hours.
• Creates and maintains a learning environment that promotes student engagement, academic excellence, and intellectual growth.
• Adheres to established instructional standards, institutional policies, and applicable safety regulations.
• Maintains accurate student records and prepares required academic reports promptly.
• Other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a closely related field preferred.
• Three (3) years of experience teaching Reading at the secondary or postsecondary level preferred.
• Valid teacher certification preferred.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of the subject matter and effective instructional practices in reading education.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Skill in mentoring and supporting students academically and personally.
• Skill in the use of databases, spreadsheets, and instructional technologies.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to foster a collegial and supportive academic environment.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations, including low-income and first-generation students.
• Demonstrated passion for teaching and student engagement.
