Level 5, Full time role

ABOUT THE ROLE  

The Clinical Skills Coordinator is the key administrative interface between academics, clinician tutors and students in the Communication and Clinical Practice (CCP) Domain. The duties of this role include managing the delivery and implementation of the CCP curriculum and working collaboratively with academic, general staff and the Domain Chair to ensure the Clinical Skills program is consistent with AMC requirements. 

The Coordinator manages the weekly Clinical and Procedural Skills classes in the pre-clinical curriculum of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program, ensures tutors are scheduled and that the administrative team are appropriately prepared for the classes.

Key Responsibilities  

  • Coordinate and manage the delivery of the CCP Clinical Skills curriculum in conjunction with the Domain Chair, CCP and other CCP staff.
  • Assist with the planning, review and implementation of the CCP curriculum and clinical placements.
  • Manage scheduling of tutors for Clinical Skills classes, Procedural Skills classes and authorisation of timesheets.
  • Oversight of, and overall management of scheduling of patients, simulated patients and volunteers for tutorials or examinations (OSCEs).
  • Communicate and liaise with clinician lecturers for CCP lectures, tutorials and seminars as needed and work collaboratively with academic and general staff within the School.
  • Update and format teaching materials to ensure best practice and high standard of presentation.
  • Manage the organisation of the clinical examinations (OSCEs) across the Doctor of Medicine (MD) courses, including logistics, recruitment and attendance of examiners, simulated and volunteer patients, preparation of paper and digital resources.

ABOUT YOU  

  • Completion of a degree or completion of an advanced diploma or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training 
  • Demonstrated administrative experience, preferably in tertiary or other education sectors 
  • Demonstrated high-level time management, organisational and planning skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, initiative, diplomacy, tact and discretion as well as proven experience handling sensitive and personal information in a confidential and appropriate manner 
  • Ability to work independently and to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of database applications and in Microsoft Office applications 
  • Proven ability to liaise professionally with a wide range of community and health stakeholders 
  • Highly developed communication skills, both written and oral with the ability to build relationships, engage and foster collaboration 

Desirable  

  • A Degree qualification with relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated experience in administration with advanced level of organisation and computer skills including a good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite as well as the capacity to learn and use in-house administrative database systems.
  • Ability to act with discretion and sensitivity and to maintain confidentiality.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to prioritise tasks and work within tight timeframes.
  • Evidence of producing clear and concise written communication with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
