Position Summary

University College is an academic support department and is accepting applications for a position as Instructor of Reading.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Education

Master’s degree in Reading or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours of coursework in Reading.

Minimum Required Experience

Teaching experience with at-risk students.

Minimum Required Licenses and/or Certifications

None required.

Qualifications

Ability to use technology in the classrooms, including learning management systems.

Working knowledge of learning differences and/or learning disabilities, and best practices in teaching underprepared students.

Working knowledge of the Banner system.

Skills and Abilities

Creative and innovative skills and abilities.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Teach classes designed to meet the needs of a special population of students who are identified as at-risk.

Create individualized plans to help each student achieve academic goals.

Develop and document instructional outcomes.

Provide weekly academic progress reports to the program coordinator for tutorials.

Advise and mentor students.

Monitor students at on-campus and off-campus program activities.

Provide a positive learning environment.

Complete all requested reports by the Chair of University College and the Dean.

Perform other duties as assigned by Chair of University College.
