About the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Strategy, Government and Alliances

The Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Strategy, Government and Alliances, situated within the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, plays a pivotal role in the delivery of strategic objectives for the University, positioning the institution as a leading voice in regional and national policy discussions, ultimately advancing the institutions mission and impact.


The Office serves as the primary liaison between the institution and government at local, state and federal levels, advocating for both the Universitys and the region’s interests. It actively monitors legislative activities and policy developments, ensuring that the institutions leadership is well-informed and able to respond effectively. By engaging with politicians and government officials, the Office works to secure funding, influence legislation, and promote policies that support the sustainable growth of the University and the region.


In addition to advocacy, the Office is instrumental in forming strategic, values aligned, alliances with regional, national and international collaborators. These partnerships amplify the impact of the University’s advocacy relating to issues that are critical for Western Sydney’s communities. Furthermore, the Office plays a crucial role in enhancing the universitys public profile and reputation with its stakeholders. It organises events and forums that bring together government officials, university representatives, and community leaders to discuss pressing economic and social issues and explore collaborative solutions.


About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists within the Office of Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Strategy, Government and Alliances for a Project and Executive Support Officer to join the team.


The Project and Executive Support Officer is responsible for the provision of effective and efficient project and executive support to the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Strategy, Government and Alliances. This will include:

  • tracking projects, expenditure, correspondence, and contacts
  • diary management and administrative support
  • preparation of minutes and note taking

 

The position will also provide support for the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Strategy, Government and Alliances portfolio. This may include administrative support and undertaking secondary research and basic analysis to support portfolio initiatives.


The position reports to the Manager, Strategy and Delivery, and will work collegially within the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Strategy, Government and Alliances, and the wider Office of the Vice-Chancellor and President.

 

This is a full-time ongoing position based at Western’s Parramatta South Campus, although travel to other campuses of the University may be required. Please review the position description for further information.


Key Responsibilities

The Project and Executive Support Officer will provide professional support to the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Strategy, Government, and Alliances on projects and operational matters, including drafting, tracking materials, and handling confidential issues. They will assist in meeting and event preparation, support the delivery of materials, and organise functions such as workshops and agreement signings. Additionally, the Officer will develop and maintain communications, prepare briefing notes, conduct research, and create plans, budgets, and presentations. The role also involves maintaining constructive relationships within the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor and with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring confidentiality, professionalism, and diplomacy in all tasks.


Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking a dynamic individual with an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience in providing high-level executive and project support services.


The successful candidate will possess well-developed written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills, enabling them to write concise, clear, and accurate reports and convey complex issues effectively. They will be adept at preparing project materials, managing budgets, supporting event logistics, and have experience supporting and monitoring plans, policies, and procedures.


They will exercise sound judgment in handling confidential and strategic information, be a team player committed to meeting deadlines and delivering quality support, and possess well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions with minimal supervision, contributing to achieving agreed objectives.

Remuneration Package: HEW Level 6 $107,358 to $115,073 p.a. (comprising Salary of $90,719 to $97,238 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)
