Job Summary

KACST and Caltech have a joint program for remote sensing of (sub)surface change for science and societal resilience. The objective of the joint program is to utilize remote sensing data to address science and societal challenges associated with surface and subsurface hazards such as tectonics, sand dunes, floods, the resulting infrastructure response and ultimately, the optimal response of decision makers, and subsurface aquifers, both their characterization and dynamics.

Essential Job Duties

• Strategic planning for ongoing and potential future activities.
• Organizing four annuals, one week, workshops, three in Saudi Arabia and one at Caltech focusing on key present and future research topics of mutual interest.
• Development of visualization techniques for displaying Earth science satellite data that would help researchers and decision makers.
• Budget planning and reporting.
• Publication of annual reports and other material.
• Strategic planning for ongoing and potential future activities.
• Coordination for Saudi researchers and students coming to Caltech (visas, lodging, etc.).

Basic Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent experience.
• Substantial hands-on experience with large data processing using open-source software.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NASA’s Eyes on the Earth software products is preferred.
• Experience managing contracts with NASA and other universities and agencies.
• Proven ability to lead research tasks, perform analysis, document all codes developed for data processing, science, and attend conferences.

Hiring Range

$34.25 to $67.25 per hour

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
