THE DEPARTMENT:
The mission of the Information Technology Division is to provide stewardship, leadership, and service in support of the teaching and learning mission of the university. IT provides learning technologies, strategies, leadership and support, all of which enhance teaching, learning, the quality of the student experience, personal productivity, and administrative effectiveness. IT Converged Network Services is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of various (data, voice, video, etc.) campus telecommunications networks and associated infrastructure.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs inside wiring installations between wiring closets, offices, and classroom, adhering to Systimax standards.
- Performs outside wiring installations between buildings and/or from a building to an outside location, using outside infrastructure cabling plant via either existing conduit paths or by installing new conduit paths.
- Troubleshoots and repairs blocks, protectors, terminations, etc.
- Diagnoses and repairs problems with phones, wiring, fiber optics and wireless.
- Splice fiber optic cables.
- Assists network analysts with patching and equipment installation. Performs LAN maintenance as required including VLAN changes and participation in large rollouts.
- Provides telecommunications and structured cabling systems coordination for campus infrastructure projects and support for other projects.
- Works with campus clients to identify scope of work and resources required for a specific telecommunications project.
- Verifies and the integrity of work performed by vendors and contracted personnel.
- Provides construction coordination for campus infrastructure projects.
- Security Camera, Wireless Access Point, Digital Signage, and Card Access Low Volt Installation Coordinates the installation of security cameras, digital signage, and card access low voltage equipment across cameras including the design of the structured cabling used to facilitate the installation of those systems.
- Documentation Updates diagrams, floor plans, and other drawings used in coordination, project reviews, and department status meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree - Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and
- Driver License, Valid and in State
- Two years of relevant experience. Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
