Temporary Part-Time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Provide psychiatric evaluation and medication management services to support the mental health, academic functioning, and well-being of students referred by Personal Counseling Center staff. Work collaboratively with the Personal Counseling Center, Health Services, and contracted consulting psychiatrist to deliver integrated psychiatric care in accordance with institutional policies and ethical standards. This is a part-time temporary position, hours may range from 5-8 hours per week (TBD) for September 8, 2025 - May 8, 2026.
- Provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management services to students presenting with a wide range of mental health concerns. Monitor medication adherence, side effects, and treatment outcomes using best practices and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system.
- Collaborate with internal and external providers to coordinate comprehensive care, including consultation with the contracted psychiatrist and case discussions with counseling staff.
- Assist in referral management for higher or specialized care, including partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient programs, or off-campus psychiatric providers. Ensure appropriate handoff and continuity of care.
- Partner with Health Services to coordinate laboratory testing and review medical concerns related to psychiatric treatment. Communicate clearly about medication interactions and health monitoring needs.
MARGINAL DUTIES:
- Ensure compliance with college policies and professional standards for clinical documentation, ethical care, and record-keeping.
- Maintain current knowledge of psychiatric best practices and licensure requirements through continuing education.
- Perform all other duties as may be required.
- Current certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
- Active APRN license in the State of Rhode Island (or license-eligible)
- Demonstrated experience in psychiatric evaluation, psychopharmacological treatment, and collaborative care within a clinical or college mental health setting
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines
- Proficiency in electronic medical recordkeeping and documentation standards
- Experience working with college-aged populations and strong cultural competency preferred
