Temporary Research Assistant, Part Time
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant position for the department of Neurology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Temporary Research Assistant will work in a laboratory dedicated to studying the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases including Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease and Lewy Body Dementia. The primary duties of the Temporary Research Assistant will include studies of genetically modified mice, including mouse husbandry and genotyping, tissue sectioning, staining, performing experiments, as well as maintaining laboratory equipment and stock solutions.
- Maintains colonies of genetically modified mice, including mouse husbandry and genotyping.
- Conducts behavioral testing in mice.
- Assists in mouse surgeries and provide post-surgical care according to approved laboratory protocols.
- Prepares and administers special diets for mice.
- Performs animal perfusion and tissue sampling.
- Conducts immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence analysis on brain slices.
- Performs molecular biologic experiments that include Western blotting, protein-protein interaction assays, PCR, subcellular organelle isolation, and cell biologic studies.
