Job Description
Basic Functions: This is a 10-Month Tenure Track Position. FLSA status: Exempt. First date of review: November 5, 2025. Voluntary reassignment considered for full-time faculty until October 3, 2025, at 5:00 PM. Compensation ranges from $67,886 to $106,308 based on education and experience, with a maximum annual salary of $142,425. Benefits include District-paid medical, dental, vision insurance for employee and dependents, a $50,000 life insurance policy, and participation in CalSTRS Teachers Retirement System. Representative Duties:
Essential Functions: Teach courses in U.S. and World History, including African American History, Women's History, Latin American History, Native American History, and California History. Implement current teaching theories and methods, including Distance Education. Collaborate on program review, curriculum development, and departmental functions. Teach scheduled classes on campus and in other modalities, participate in professional development, serve on committees, promote student success for diverse populations, provide timely feedback, comply with District policies, and participate in assessment of Student Learning Outcomes.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications: Master's in history, or Bachelor's in history and Master's in political science, humanities, geography, area studies, women's studies, social science, or ethnic studies, or the equivalent. Must have sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Refer to the California Community Colleges guidelines for minimum qualifications: Minimum Qualifications Handbook. Some courses may require specific certificates based on accreditation.
Working Environment: Office, classroom, lab, and/or online environment. Requires communication, flexibility for day, weekend, or evening classes on campus or off-site, and participation in outreach events.
Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge: Developing course syllabi, fostering inclusive learning environments, integrating accessible practices, teaching across modalities while maintaining engagement, and complying with accrediting bodies.
Abilities: Work effectively in person with clear communication, remain current in discipline, use advanced technology, work well with others, use LMS platforms like Canvas, and interact with faculty, staff, students, and administration.
