General Description
Johns Hopkins University is investing heavily in data science and artificial intelligence. The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering is conducting an aggressive hiring initiative for multiple tenure-track positions.
We consider all areas of Electrical and Computer Engineering, but are particularly seeking candidates whose research falls into the following areas:
1. Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence
- Computer Architecture
- Energy-efficient hardware
- Edge computing
- Embedded systems
- Hardware security
- Integrated systems and power electronics
2. Communications, Networks, and Artificial Intelligence
- Software defined networking
- Network security
- Mobile networking
- Coding/compression
- AI in wireless
We are especially interested in interdisciplinary researchers with applications in: national security, societal safety, materials design, public health, clinical care, neuroscience, space systems, and policy.
Selected faculty will be part of the University’s Data Science and AI Institute with access to its computational infrastructure.
The department includes:
- 32 full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty
- 8 research and 3 teaching faculty
- 150 PhD students, 100+ MSE students, and 140 undergraduate students
Applications will be considered at all levels. The referenced salary range is based on the University’s good faith belief at the time of posting and may vary depending on experience, qualifications, years in rank, training, field, and other factors.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field
- Expected to contribute to growth of the ECE program
- Develop an independent research program and secure research funding
- Teach courses in the electrical and computer engineering area
