The Department of Psychology in the College of Education and Human Services welcomes applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant/Associate position beginning August 2026. We seek candidates who share our commitment to training future generations of school psychologists in evidence-based practices for a diverse population.
The candidate hired will have the opportunity to contribute to both our Specialist Level (Ed.S.) program in School Psychology as well as our undergraduate psychology program through curriculum development, community partnerships, leadership opportunities, and the supervision and training of future school psychologists. Job responsibilities include teaching, advising students, scholarly or creative work and department and university service. The candidate would teach courses in School Psychology (such as psychological assessment, consultation, classroom interventions, and/or other related graduate courses) as well as related undergraduate courses. Actual job assignments will depend upon department needs.
The Millersville University Educational Specialist Graduate Program in School Psychology is accredited by the National Association of School Psychology (NASP). We prepare our students for comprehensive and integrated service delivery in accordance with the NASP Professional Standards. Millersville University school psychology alumni are eligible for school psychology certification by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and to become Nationally Certified School Psychologists (NCSP) via NASP.

Minimum qualifications required to be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor include having an earned doctorate and a minimum of five years of full-time teaching experience (or its equivalent) and scholarship commensurate with this rank.

- A summary (2 - 5 pages) of Scholarly and/or Creative Activity Plan outlining 3 - 5-year agenda involving undergraduate or graduate students.
- Copies of registrar-issued unofficial transcripts for all degrees conferred and in progress (the successful candidate will be required to provide registrar-issued official transcripts from the issuing institution(s) directly to the Provosts Office by the start date).
- Three current letters of reference, (applicant to submit names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses of individuals who will be contacted to upload current letters of reference directly to a confidential website).

Required Qualifications
- A doctoral degree (or ABD) in School Psychology (or a related field) is required as well as eligibility for National Certification as a School Psychologist (NCSP) and School Psychology certification in Pennsylvania.
- An official transcript showing conferral of the doctoral degree is required by date of eligibility to apply for reappointment to the 2nd year (i.e., January 30, 2027). (In the event that the doctorate is not completed by the specified date, the faculty contract will be terminated effective as of the end of the first year of employment).
- Knowledge and skills to teach graduate courses in school psychology such as psychological assessment, consultation, applied behavior analysis, evidence-based intervention and service delivery within a multitiered system of support, practicum, or internship.
- Knowledge and skills to supervise graduate students in field activities and placements.
- Evidence of a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship.
- Ability to conduct and supervise scholarly activities.
- Commitment to serve a diverse population and to social justice advocacy within the field of school psychology.
- Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues.
- Ability to support preparation of accreditation materials.
- Commitment to inclusive teaching practices.
- Successful interview and teaching demonstration.
- Successful reference checks.
- Successful completion of three background checks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Earned doctorate in School Psychology from an APA or NASP Approved/Accredited Program.
- Evidence of research and teaching effectiveness.
- Experience with evidence-based practices including equitable assessment practices.
- Experience supervising graduate students in field activities and placements.
- At least one year's experience as a School Psychologist (including experience with assessment and school-based interventions).
- Knowledge and skills to teach undergraduate courses, such as general psychology, applied behavior analysis, developmental psychology, tests and measurements, research methods, and/or statistics.
Essential Functions

- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/classroom environment.
- Teach courses face-to-face at the higher education level using lectures, demonstrations, class discussion, using online tools and/or equipment and/or other appropriate modes of education delivery.
- Speak in a clear voice and hear spoken words.
- Read and write the written word and higher-level statistics/mathematics.
- Manage classroom activities.
- Record and calculate grades, prepare course outline and syllabus, develop course and lesson plans, engage in the selection of appropriate textbooks and other teaching aids necessary to the delivery of instruction.
- Use computer for email, obtain information on websites, prepare class documents, grade papers, submit final grades online and other duties related to teaching and advising students and serving the department, college, university and community.
- No or very limited exposure to physical risks.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
