UACS Group Leader

Job Description Summary: The Barbara and Edward Netter Center for Community Partnerships advances civic engagement through university-assisted community schools (UACS), focusing on education, research, and community problem-solving.
Job Description: Group Leaders lead fun, educational activities in STEM, arts, literacy, and career exploration; participate in reflective practices; build relationships with students; and assist with data collection. They work with Penn students, teachers, and community partners, reporting to the Site Director or Program Manager.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; college degree preferred in early childhood education, education, or social service fields. Must provide documentation of education.
- Minimum of 3 years experience with elementary-aged children or high school youth development.
- Ability to engage youth actively and constructively.
- Knowledge of grade-level content and curricula.
- Completion of required background checks and clearances.
- Experience in urban settings and diverse populations.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Punctual and regular attendance.
Responsibilities:
- Be positive, physically engaged, and fun.
- Work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Use trauma-informed care practices.
- Ensure student safety.
- Plan and implement enrichment activities.
- Attend staff training and meetings.
- Manage attendance and paperwork.
- Support academic instruction.
- Engage with students in various spaces.
- Assist with setup and cleanup.
- Supervise students according to rules.
- Comply with program expectations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Schedule: Varies, averaging 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Programs run from September 2, 2025, to June 12, 2026, with fall and spring appointments. Punctual attendance is required.
Compensation: $18-22 per hour, commensurate with experience.
