Job Description:
The Department of Athletic Training and Occupational Therapy in the Dumke College of Health Professions at Weber State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor or instructor position in the Occupational Therapy Assistant Bachelors Program (OTA-B).
The appointment will be effective July 1, 2026 and is a 9-month, 1.0 FTE position. This is a university faculty position with academic rank based upon the appointees academic and experiential qualifications. The faculty position is eligible for tenure-track. Meanwhile, Instructor positions are temporary appointments renewable annually by separate contract at the sole discretion of the University. This individual will teach courses in the Occupational Therapy Assistant Bachelors of Science program and the undergraduate Rehabilitation Sciences program.
Job Duties:
This faculty member will instruct, mentor, provide feedback, and evaluate students within their areas of expertise and interest and will ensure the availability of remedial instruction. This individual will also be responsible for ongoing curricular assessment in their assigned courses and active participation in the development, initiation, and incorporation of instructional experiences within the curriculum design for the OTA-B program.
The faculty member will also serve as an academic advisor for students throughout their time in this program to mentor and help with the development of academic, personal, and professional goals and proficiencies. They will participate in the recruitment of new students through occasional participation in promotional and marketing events.
This faculty member will represent the Department of Athletic Training and Occupational Therapy through service on department, college, and university-level committees.
Participation in activities of state, regional, and national organizations to promote a positive image of the department and the Occupational Therapy Profession within academic, lay, and professional communities is highly encouraged. In addition, this individual will develop, manage, teach, and oversee the Baccalaureate Project for the OTA-B Program.
Will perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Required:
- License in good standing as an Occupational Therapist or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of Utah (or eligible - must obtain by start date).
- Must hold a Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate Degree in Occupational Therapy, Occupational Therapy Assistant, or a Related Healthcare Field. For Occupational Therapy Assistants, must hold at least an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant and a Bachelors Degree in a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of documented clinical experience in the field of occupational therapy.
Preferred Qualifications:

- Masters or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field.
- 5+ years of clinical experience working as an occupational therapist or Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- 2 years of educational experience in a higher education setting.
- Demonstrated abilities in teaching and curriculum development.
- Strong interpersonal skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
- Strong critical thinking, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with the use of computers for organization, word processing, and communication.
- Evidence of marketing, analytic and outcome skills.
- Clinical and/or Teaching Experience in Adult Physical Dysfunction, Therapeutic Modalities & Physical Agent Modalities, Geriatric Occupational Therapy, and/or Adult Rehabilitation, or any combination of.
- Experience developing clinical simulations for occupational therapy students
- Experience with and knowledge of ACOTE accreditation requirements and standards
- Record of scholarship through research and publication
