Required Qualifications:
- Ability to perform all physical aspects of assigned duties.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office programs, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to read and interpret floor plans
- Experience working with AutoCAD, AIM, and/or ArcGIS
- Must hold or have the ability to obtain a driver’s license within 90 days of employment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Geography, Urban Planning, Architecture, GIS, or a related field.
- Experience ensuring compliance with Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) reporting requirements.
- Experience developing, implementing, and refining processes for space tracking, auditing, and reporting.
Job Description:
The University Space Analyst is responsible for maintaining and updating the university’s official facilities and space inventory, supporting strategic space planning, and ensuring accurate reporting to internal stakeholders and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). This position works closely with the University Space Manager to align space data, utilization analysis, and mapping with institutional priorities and state reporting requirements.
Job Duties:
- Maintain, monitor, and update the building and room inventory database for submittal to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board in accordance with state guidelines and reporting cycles.
- Extract, validate, and analyze data from facilities and space databases to support planning, utilization studies, capital planning, and executive decision-making.
- Continuously audit space through on-site field verification, occupancy checks, and collaboration with departmental contacts to ensure accuracy of assignments, room uses, and square footage. Perform annual occupancy survey.
- Coordinate and complete required peer review audits with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board at least every five years, preparing documentation, resolving discrepancies, and implementing recommendations.
- Prepare annual classroom and class laboratory utilization reports each fall, including course scheduling and seat utilization metrics derived from institutional data systems.
- Maintain the University’s official online map
- Maintain user lists and space contacts through site visits and crowd-sourced audit software to ensure consistent communication with colleges and departments about space changes and surveys.
- Serve on committees and working groups related to space, facilities, and campus planning, representing the Office of University Space Management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
