Urologic Oncologist-SMS-3775

This faculty position reports to the Division Chief of Urology who reports to the Chair of the Department of Surgery who reports to the Dean and Provost of the School of Medicine.

Teaching: 20%

  1. Assist the Chair of the Division of Urology and the Program Director in coordinating and directing the residency program, with particular emphasis in Urologic Oncology and all aspects of the specialty of Urology.
  2. Participate in the development and implementation of specific undergraduate curricula in urology.
  3. Participate directly in urology residency and fellow training.
  4. Participate in continuing education programs in urology for both the clinical faculty and for practicing physicians in the area.
  5. Provide a role model for students, residents and fellows as a teacher and practicing urologist.

Research: 5%

  1. Actively engage in research and scholarly activity to enhance the academic environment of the Division.
  2. Provide a role model for students, residents and fellows as an investigator.
  3. Seek appropriate funding mechanisms to support research.

Service: 65%

  1. Set an example to future practitioners of highly skilled and conscientious practice of urology that is balanced with self-education and other academic activities.
  2. Assist in the coordination of tumor board and other oncologic forums for the benefit of our patients, learners and faculty.
  3. Maintain a clinical practice in Urologic Oncology in order to enhance clinical proficiency.
  4. Participate in peer review for assessing clinical practice skills for faculty within the Division.
  5. Represent the Division in regional, state, and national matters pertaining to the field of urology.
  6. Attend national meetings and symposia in urology and related fields for the purpose of contribution, acquisition of additional knowledge, and as an example to other physicians.
  7. Serve on committees in national, regional, and state societies pertaining to Urology and Urologic Oncology.
  8. Represent the Division and/or Department on committees as requested by the Division and Department Chairmen.

Administration: 10%

  1. Assist the Chief of the Division of Urology and Program Director in coordinating and directing the residency program as needed.
  2. Assist in the assessment of surgical manpower and education needs in the specialty of urology in Central and Southern Illinois and develop education programs to meet these needs.

Required Qualifications

  1. Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations
  2. Successful completion of a urology residency program
  3. Successful completion of a Urologic Oncology fellowship
  4. MD or DO license
  5. Alternate Pathway, Board Certified or Board Eligible in Urology by the American Board of Urology
  6. Able to be licensed in the State of Illinois
