Visiting Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology
Position Summary
The Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Manhattan University invites dynamic educators and researchers to join our community as a Visiting Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychology. We welcome applicants from all specialty areas that will diversify the expertise in our department, allowing you to make your unique contribution to our programs and students. There is potential for this one-year visiting appointment to transition into a tenure-track position, contingent upon performance, departmental priorities, and budgetary considerations.
This is an exciting time to join our department, which offers three undergraduate programs (Psychology, Sociology, and Criminology) and three graduate counseling programs (School Counseling, Mental Health, and Marriage and Family), with seamless B.A./M.S. pathways between psychology and counseling. Our psychology program offers both B.A. and B.S. degree options, and we collaborate with the Biology program to offer a neuroscience minor. This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.
Responsibilities
Your Impact in this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Inspire undergraduate students through engaging instruction in both specialized clinical topics and core psychology courses
- Contribute to graduate education by teaching in our Counseling & Therapy programs
- Create a supportive learning environment through collaborative initiatives
- Guide student development through thoughtful academic advising and mentorship
- Shape program excellence through assessment and curriculum development
- Build our community through service at the department level
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology or related field
- ABD candidates will be considered if they are on track to complete their doctorate by or before the date of hire
- This role requires on-site attendance
- Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching and student mentorship
- Established research program with potential for student involvement
- Commitment to inclusive teaching practices and student support
- Collaborative approach to academic service and program development
- Phi Beta Kappa membership is preferred but not required
