Description
The Department of Art at Wake Forest University invites applications for a one-year position as Visiting Assistant Professor of History of Modern and Contemporary Architecture, to begin July 1, 2026.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be expected to teach three courses per semester, with a M/W/F schedule. Fall 2026 courses will be Art 105: A Global History of Architecture (40 students) and Art 288: Modern/Contemporary Architecture (28 students). In addition, each semester, the successful candidate will teach Art 101: Engaging with Art (15 students), a course that encourages students to engage with the visual arts on campus and in the local community. Spring courses can include upper-level lecture classes in the candidate’s area(s) of specialization. This position is a one-year appointment, open to those working on any geographic region. The position requires experience teaching an architectural history course as the primary instructor at the university level and a Ph.D. in Art/Architectural History. Candidates who will graduate in May 2026 will be considered.
