Visiting Fellow
The Dairy Nutrition and Nutrient Management Lab is seeking a dedicated and skilled Visiting Fellow to support research activities related to ruminant nutrition, nutrient cycling, and animal health. This full-time position is ideal for individuals with experience in animal research and laboratory work who are interested in contributing to collaborative research projects in a university setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with animal handling, including dairy cows, beef cattle, and sheep
- Perform sample collection from animals (e.g., feeds, feces, urine, gut contents, blood)
- Conduct sample preparation, organization, and laboratory analyses
- Coordinate with graduate students and barn staff to schedule and conduct experiments
- Perform daily monitoring of animal status and ongoing experiments in the barn
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience handling livestock or working with large animals in research or production settings
- Experience in laboratory techniques and biological sample analysis
- Strong communication and teamwork skills for working within a collaborative research environment
- Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team
