About This Role
The School of Continuing Education and Workforce Development is a dynamic and innovative department within the College, dedicated to providing a wide range of non-credit classes, courses, seminars, and training sessions for the community. These programs are designed to enhance career opportunities, upgrade skills and credentials, support business growth, and nurture personal interests and passions.
In addition, the HCCC Center for Business & Industry (CBI) serves as a regional leader in creating and delivering educational programs tailored to the needs of Hudson County’s businesses, organizations, and individuals.
Summary of Duties
What You’ll Do:
The instructor will provide non-credit, workforce development training in welding for CEWD clients utilizing approved training curriculum and materials. The Welding Instructor will instruct students in the theories and practical methods of welding. They will use conceptual and practical understanding of welding to teach a wide range of welding knowledge and skills, including, but not limited to: welding techniques, positioning, fit-up, equipment set-up, welding theory, metallurgy and weldability of metals, print reading, utilizing welding codes and standards, and even inspection of welds.
Qualifications
Education Requirements: A minimum of a high school diploma and knowledge of welding, metals fabrication, engineering technology, or AWS certified welding inspector. Associate’s degree in welding, vocational education, and welding engineering preferred. Member of American Welder Society (AWS) is desirable.
Experience: Knowledgeable of weld discontinuities, materials, weldability characteristics, and filler metals with three years training & development in Workforce Development preferred.
Training Locations: Training may also be held at partner sites in Hudson County or one of the surrounding areas.
Work Hours: Training will be delivered in person, Monday to Thursday during the hours of 8am-2pm.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 3 years of professional experience in welding or a related trade.
- Industry certifications (e.g., AWS or equivalent) are highly desirable.
- Prior experience in teaching, training, or mentoring is a strong advantage.
- Comprehensive knowledge of welding techniques, safety protocols, and industry-standard equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and instruct a diverse student population.
