Well-Being Coordinator

Retriever Integrated Health (RIH) brings together the former University Health Services, and the Counseling Center offices to work in a collaborative, holistic approach to support your well-being and success. Our team is committed to providing the UMBC community with high-quality services, support, and resources. RIH is an interdisciplinary team that includes our administrative staff members and a variety of healthcare professionals, representing disciplines of acupuncture, dietetics, health education, massage, nursing, medicine, psychiatry, psychology, counseling, and social work.
Position Overview:
The Well-Being Coordinator located in an integrated health center, provides strengths-based evaluation, referral navigation, advocates for students, and ensures effective service delivery across counseling, physical health, and health promotion. Acting as a central hub, they facilitate collaboration and ensure students receive holistic, coordinated care, improving outcomes, and creating a seamless experience across services and the UMBC community.

Responsibilities:
Care Coordination
- Develop individualized care plans that are tailored to the unique needs of each student, ensuring that services are equitable and inclusive, integrating counseling, physical health, and health promotion in a way that respects cultural, socioeconomic, and personal factors.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among healthcare providers to ensure that students from all backgrounds receive culturally competent and coordinated care, addressing both overt and systemic barriers to access.
Student Assessment
- Conduct comprehensive, culturally sensitive assessments to understand students' physical, mental, and social health needs, recognizing and respecting their diverse backgrounds, identities, and experiences.
- Gather information from various sources, including academic records, when appropriate, and input from healthcare providers, ensuring an inclusive approach that acknowledges each student’s unique cultural, linguistic, and social context.
Education and Support
- Provide health education to students that is culturally relevant, addressing their specific health conditions, treatment options, and lifestyle changes in a way that respects their personal beliefs, cultural norms, and language preferences.
- Offer emotional support and encouragement to students, helping them to stay motivated and empowered in their health journeys, while acknowledging and validating their lived experiences and diverse perspectives.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Five years experience in casework management to include three years in behavioral care coordination
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Behavioral Healthcare, Social Work or related field or more than 7 years with case management experience in hospital and/or higher education
- Experience working with young adults
- Experience in a higher education environment
Salary:
$62,000 - $70,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
