Women’s Health Research Chair in Rural Health

The Faculty of Health Sciences at Western University seeks an established research scholar to join our leading edge Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing as an Endowed Research Chair. With over a 100-year history of academic and research excellence, the School is one of seven in a progressive Faculty, offering academic programs in nursing at undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels.

The ‘Women’s Health Research Chair in Rural Health’ was established with the generous support of the Ontario Women’s Health Council and Arthur and Sonia Labatt to provide leadership in research on rural women’s health, promoting equity and improved health for the women of Ontario by working in collaborative partnerships with the health system, the community, researchers, and policy stakeholders. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Associate or Full Professor with tenure. The initial term of the Chair is 5 years with renewal of a second 5-year term upon positive evaluation of performance. The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Nursing or a related field and be an accomplished academic with a nationally/internationally recognized, independent, and externally funded research program related to rural women’s health. They will have earned an outstanding reputation for mentoring and teaching in graduate and/or undergraduate programs. Preference will be given to applicants who are Registered Nurses (Regular or Extended class) and eligible to hold a current license entitling them to practice with no restrictions with the College of Nurses of Ontario. Responsibilities include classroom teaching (20%), research (60%), and service (20%) to the School, Faculty, University, and profession as appropriate. Compensation and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Support for research development is available through the Nursing Research Unit, the Faculty, and University. The anticipated start date of the appointment is July 1, 2026, or as negotiated.
