SUMMARY
The Department of Healthcare Studies (HCS) at SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for part-time adjunct faculty openings, primarily focused on teaching within the Healthcare Administration (HCA) program.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Key responsibilities include reviewing and planning course content, preparing lesson plans, and evaluating student performance. The courses to be taught may include topics such as Healthcare Informatics, Statistics for Healthcare Professions, Managerial Epidemiology, Human Resource Management for Healthcare, and Healthcare Marketing.
- Reviews and plans course content, preparing comprehensive lesson plans.
- Integrates diversity and inclusion topics into teaching as pedagogically appropriate.
- Collaborates with the Program Director/Chair to ensure course content aligns with program learning outcomes, required contact hours, and that grading and feedback are timely, effective, and appropriate.
- Provides students with an approved syllabus that includes learning outcomes, teaching methodologies, and assessment criteria aligned with the program.
- Adheres to syllabus requirements, including maintaining required contact hours, and provide timely grading and constructive feedback to students.
- Identifies course texts and associated readings, and design engaging assignments, deliverables, timelines, and evaluation criteria in collaboration with the Program Director.
- Utilizes the University's learning management system (Brightspace) to enhance classroom experience, communicate with students, and post the syllabus, assignments, and grades.
- Advises and assists students through office hours or scheduled appointments via videoconferencing, phone, or email.
- Communicates student engagement or support needs and notify the Program Director of any student issues or concerns.
- Evaluates student performance and provide feedback to support skill development.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a field related to healthcare administration by the time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an international recognized college, or university or equivalent professional experience
- Ability to work independently and effectively interact with a diverse range of individuals, including students, faculty, administration/staff, alumni, and external constituents such as healthcare industry professionals
- Demonstrated experience in training/teaching and classroom management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses in healthcare administration, healthcare studies, health, or related topics
- Online teaching experience
- Minimum of three years of work experience in healthcare management or a related field
- Minimum of three years of teaching experience at the college/university level, with a demonstrated commitment to student engagement and success
- Experience in student mentorship

Work Schedule: Variable
Salary and Benefits:
