Accountant II
Under the direction of the CPFM Finance Manager, the Accountant II independently performs the full range of professional accounting work which requires a thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This position focuses primarily on reporting, general ledger reconciliations, preparing/posting journal entries, revenue/expense reallocation, and assists in preparing and tracking staff's position budget models and projections. Supports the daily financial operations of the university's capital outlay program and facilities management including all budgeting, accounting, and reporting systems associated with assigned projects. Utilizes CSUF Financial system (OBIEE) to generate various financial reports and analysis. Creates, modifies, and processes various query reports in CPFM's Work Order System (TMA). Compiles, analyzes, and reports work order data. Maintains a comprehensive communications network within CPFM departments including Financial Operations, Service Center, Planning Design and Construction Management to facilitate administrative and financial activities. Works collaboratively with various campus departments including Budget Office, Contracts and Procurement, Accounts Payable, Travel, and Accounting Services. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree with a major in accounting, business administration, finance or a closely related field OR a combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities. Equivalent to two years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience. Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); office methods and procedures; statistical and mathematical presentation of data; advanced proficiency with current word processing and spreadsheet software programs, web browsers, query tools, integrated financial systems and/or other types of records management systems. General understanding of internal control methods. Working knowledge of federal student financial aid annual reporting requirements, and quarterly grant reporting requirements. Ability to apply accounting principles to the analysis of complex accounting problems; analyze and interpret accounting data; prepare clear, accurate financial statements and reports; utilize problem-solving techniques in finding solutions to complex accounting problems; understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and principles; make decisions and recommendations regarding accounting activities; communicate effectively with others inside and outside the unit, including conveying technical information to non-Accountants.
