Accountant III
Job Summary
Prepare standard and specialized financial reports (e.g., balance sheets, income statements, monthly closing reports) according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries into accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document organization's transactions. Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures. Considered highly skilled and proficient in discipline. Conducts complex, important work under minimal supervision and with wide latitude for independent judgment.

Responsibilities
- Work closely with Facilities and Hospital accounting to accurately record construction in progress
- Lead quarterly project capitalization meetings
- Update Fixed Asset Module with completed projects
- Run and book monthly depreciation entries
- Review lease and subscription based IT asset contracts and book any required journal entries
- Maintain all capital asset schedules
- Book capital asset related journal entries
- Review and approve campus journal entries
- Assist in month end and year end close process
- Propose and implement process changes
Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience). Accountants, III: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.
Preferences
- Experience in capital asset accounting
- Understanding of Financial Accounting Standards Board or GASB rules and guidelines
