Job Description

The Administrative and Program Specialist, Educational Leadership and Higher Education at The Lynch School of Higher Education and Human Development

The Administrative & Program Specialist is responsible for the administrative oversight and daily operations of the Educational Leadership and Higher Education (ELHE) department in the Lynch School of Education and Human Development, including the management of financial resources. The Specialist provides high level support to the Chair and plays a key role in supporting the strategic and programmatic planning efforts of the department. Working closely with the Chair, Lynch Graduate Student Services, Lynch Graduate Admissions, Lynch Office of Undergraduate Programs, Faculty and Programs Directors, this position is instrumental for the successful enrollment, retention, and effective student services and support of the department's graduate students.

Supporting a department with a total faculty count of 14 and a graduate student population of approximately 350, this role is responsible for hiring, training, and allocating the appropriate levels of graduate and undergraduate student support to execute the administrative and programming responsibilities of the departments. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to coordinating communications on behalf of the department, event logistics, managing information systems, working with program directors and graduate assistants to create academic and social programming for students, and managing the graduation process and faculty search and tenure processes.

Hiring Range: $27.47/hr to $34.34/hr. Pay rate commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required (Master's degree in Higher Education Administration or another related field preferred)
  • 3-5 years of administration and student services experience, preferably in a higher education setting
  • Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and initiative to learn new technologies
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Budget management and resource allocation skills
  • Ability to independently prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational, managerial, interpersonal skills, and exceptional attention to detail; a positive attitude and "customer service focus"
  • Ability to maintain data security and confidentiality of all data at all times
  • Familiarity with Boston College systems is preferred
