Admissions Counselor
Job Summary
This position facilitates the University's program of recruiting and admitting students.
Responsibilities
- Recruitment & Admissions - 55
- Representing the institution at college fairs, high schools, and community events
- Develop and implement strategic student recruitment plans for assigned geographic territory
- Conduct informational presentations and campus tours for prospective students
- Establish and maintain relationships with high school counselors, community organizations, and educational partners
- Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective students and their families, responding to inquiries via phone, email, and in-person interactions
- Review and evaluate student applications and make admission recommendations
- Serve at institutional events hosted by the Office of Admissions and/or New Students Programs
- Reporting & Analysis - 20
- Utilize Slate to track application status, communication history, and key milestones for each prospective student
- Generate weekly recruitment reports analyzing institutional recruitment metrics in the assigned geographic territory
- Utilize data and trends to plan and recruit in the assigned geographic territory
- Administrative - 20
- Coordinate all travel plans for recruitment, including, but not limited to logistics, hotel accommodations, and subsequent expense reports
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies and federal regulations
- Maintain accurate records in the student information systems, Banner and Slate
- Other - 5
- Performs other duties as assigned by Admissions managers and Executive Director of Admissions
Required Qualifications
- Educational Requirements: Bachelor's Degree
- Other Required Qualifications: Valid driver's license
- Required Experience: At least one year of related experience
- Required Documents to Attach: List of References, Additional Documents, Portfolio
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- ABILITIES
- Ability to use independent judgment in making admissions decisions
- Proven driving skills, a good sense of direction, and a solid familiarity with the state's highway, roadway, and interstate system
- KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of university admissions requirements
- Familiarity with computer software and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, particularly Slate and Microsoft Office
- SKILLS
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and polished public speaking
- Strong organization and time management skills
