Annual Leadership Giving Officer, Athletics
Job Summary
The Leadership Annual Giving Officer, Athletics, is responsible for the direct solicitation of athletic donors at the Fiat Lux Society level of $2,500+ to the Rollins Annual Fund. This entry-level fundraiser will work cross-organizationally to enhance alumni and parent engagement strategies and implement an effective fundraising program to support the advancement goals for Rollins Athletics.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of leadership annual giving prospects with the capacity to make annual athletic gifts of $2,500-$10,000 to maximize giving to Athletics.
- Directly qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of approximately 300 alumni and parent donors/prospects supporting the Athletics Director's strategic plan and priorities.
- Have direct contact with 20+ unique prospects each month to meet fundraising and key performance metrics utilizing multi-channel outreach.
- Engage in leadership athletic annual gift solicitations that 1) retain current and re-engage lost athletics donors, 2) increase giving levels of current athletics donors, 3) acquire new athletic donors, and 4) increase unrestricted giving to the general Athletics Fund.
- Work directly with Athletics leadership, coaches, and staff as liaison to support athletic leadership annual giving opportunities and strategies.
- Identify prospects as potential major and planned gift donors for handing off to the major and planned giving fundraising team.
- Develop, implement, and manage other annual giving avenues for increased undesignated gifts within sports and department-wide.
- Work with departments within Advancement, including Annual Giving, Major and Planned Giving, and Donor Relations, to create and implement cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
- Work with the office of Alumni Engagement and the Parent & Family Giving Officer to support athletic programs and events that increase engagement and maintain positive relationships with athletic alumni and parents.
- Play a key role in securing athletics challenge donors for Rollins Fund initiatives such as Giving Day.
- Support the solicitation of unrestricted Fiat Lux Society gifts ($2,500+) from non-Athletics donors.
- Support Alumni and Family Weekends and Parents & Family Council Spring Forum as well as other development programs.
Minimum Qualifications & Education
- Bachelor's Degree
- A minimum of one year experience in fundraising, direct sales, or job-related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Former NCAA student-athlete.
- Experience in Advancement in a higher education setting.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Highly organized and detail-oriented; ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in order to meet fundraising goals.
- Work independently and be self-motivated in initiating contact with donors and potential donors.
- Understanding of and conversant in the language and nuance of intercollegiate athletics.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully and effectively with a wide range of constituents and manage complex relationships.
- Understanding of donor recognition and stewardship, and a general level of comfort dealing with high-net-worth individuals.
- Ability to build strong relationships with Athletics leadership, coaches, and staff to understand the annual fund needs of the Athletics program as they relate to the College's priorities for Athletics.
- Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working through ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience employing technology, digital marketing tools, data management, and analytics to optimize fundraising efforts.
- Ability to handle confidential information and maintain and update files with a high degree of accuracy and sensitivity to the importance of alumni and donor relations.
- Computer fluency including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn and utilize Slate CRM, PowerBI dashboards, and other technology/systems.
Work Environment
Campus-based, customer service role in an office environment, offering some opportunity for a hybrid work schedule. Regular use of a computer and databases. Employees are required to use their personal cell phones for work-related communications and tasks, including but not limited to responding to emails, attending virtual meetings, and accessing College applications. Flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends, may be required on an “as needed” basis. For example, attend the Alumni Weekend and Family Weekend and a variety of home varsity sports games and matches.
