Job Description:
The Department of Biomedical Sciences (DBMS) at the Quillen College of Medicine, East Tennessee State University (ETSU), invites applications for multiple full-time, tenure-track, open-rank faculty positions.
We encourage applications from individuals with research expertise in one or more of the following areas of major strength within the department:
- Cancer
- Cardiovascular/renal
- Immunology/infectious disease
- Neuroscience
Promising candidates in other areas of biomedical research will also be considered. Applicants with extramural funding through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or who are eligible to apply for VA funding are encouraged to apply. Consideration will also be given to cluster or group hiring in the areas of departmental strength.
Applicants are expected to engage in basic and translational research, sustain independent research funding, publish in high quality peer-reviewed journals, and participate in teaching of medical and/or graduate students. Administrative duties may include service on departmental, college and university committees.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Expertise and ability to build a nationally competitive research program.
- Experience in teaching medical and biomedical courses or the willingness to develop such skills is desired.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent degree.
- Postdoctoral research experience.
- For Associate or Full Professor, evidence of an established research program with extramural funding is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Nationally funded research program.
- Applicants with a strong publication record and nationally competitive research program or the potential to develop such a program independently and/or in collaboration with DBMS faculty.
- Candidates specializing in brain tumors and cancer immunotherapy are encouraged to apply, priority given to those with expertise in cancer organoid modeling and artificial intelligence (AI), particularly in molecular oncology and protein chemistry.
