Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities:

Southern invites applications from individuals who believe in the mission of public higher education and are committed to outstanding teaching and scholarship/creative activity. Successful candidates will be disciplinary scholars devoted to a student-centric approach. The Department of Inclusive Education and Behavior Science is seeking to fill a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor to begin Fall 2026. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in special education and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition to teaching responsibilities, faculty are required to engage in scholarship/creative activity, service to the department and University, professional participation, and student advising. While the nominal teaching load is 12 credits per semester, there is the opportunity for reassigned time.

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in Special Education; Applied Behavior Analysis; or a closely related field including advanced training in evidence-based practices for individuals with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practices in instruction of individuals with disabilities (e.g., diagnostic assessment, assistive technology, positive behavior support, structured literacy, etc.).
  • Experience in field-based mentoring/supervision of teacher
  • Minimum of three years of full-time experience educating individuals with
  • Evidence of scholarly activity in the field, leading to peer-reviewed publications, external grants or other support, and presentations at professional conferences.
  • University teaching experience in special education and/or ABA coursework at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in professional leadership roles, including guiding teams, managing projects, and/or guiding collaborative initiatives to successful outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in professional and institutional service aligned with the expectations of a university faculty appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), in good standing by the time of appointment with doctoral designation eligibility.
  • Certification in PK-12 (or state equivalent) special
  • Experience in university teaching in a variety of formats (e.g., on ground, hybrid, online).
  • ABD near completion may be If applying ABD, please specify your completion timeline and current status.
