Location: Mayville State University, Mayville, ND

Compensation: Hiring Range: Assistant Professor: $53,590 - $64,308 annually
Hiring Range: Associate Professor: $68,022 - $81,626 annually
9-month contract rank and salary commensurate with experience level.

Benefits: Includes single or family health care coverage (health insurance premiums paid 100% by the university), basic life insurance, EAP, retirement plan, and tuition waiver. Optional benefits available: Supplemental life, dental, vision long-term care insurance, flexible spending account, and supplemental retirement plans.

FLSA: Exempt

Position Description: The Division of Education at Mayville State University is seeking applications for a full-time faculty position in Special Education at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. This position begins in August 2026 and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality special education teacher preparation programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for program planning, instruction, and advising undergraduate special education majors. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate coursework in special education, such as Learning Disabilities, Emotional Behavioral Disorders, Intellectual Disabilities, Modifications, and Introduction to Special Education. Courses will be delivered both on campus and online.

Additional responsibilities include creating and revising course content, reporting, and supervising students in clinical field experiences. The faculty member will collaborate with colleagues in the Division of Education on assessment and accreditation efforts and participate in service activities that support the university and the surrounding community. The position requires a commitment to excellence in teaching, professional communication, and collaboration, as well as a dedication to serving diverse student populations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • An earned master's degree in special education with at least seven (7) years of direct experience in a K-12 setting
  • Experience with multi-tiered systems of support, Response to Intervention, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports
  • Experience with Academic Achievement, Behavioral and Social-Emotional, Developmental, and functional & Curriculum Based Assessments
  • Excellent working knowledge and skills in the use of research-based instructional strategies
  • Evidence of professional communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • This position may be tenure eligible for individuals with an earned doctorate
  • An earned doctorate in Education, Special Education, or Educational Leadership
  • Experience teaching in higher education, both face-to-face and online
  • Experience developing higher education coursework
  • Commitment to working with culturally, linguistically, and socio-economically diverse students
