Assistant Clinical Professor in School Psychology

Primary responsibilities for this position include teaching in the Master's, Advanced Certificate, and the APA-accredited PhD Programs in School Psychology. The successful applicant will also be expected to provide effective mentorship to promote graduate students’ professional competence, skill development, and contribute to initiatives and activities in the division, the Graduate School of Education. Furthermore, given our multicultural emphasis, applicants should possess the competence to make major contributions to the instruction of graduate courses in the assessment sequence in both counseling and school psychology with a demonstrated commitment to issues of diversity.
Responsibilities:
- Provide all doctoral and advanced certificate students with individual and group supervision on academic and professional development aspects of field experiences.
- Supervise students’ progress and fulfillment of field experiences in terms of time (number of hours), activities, and quality of experiences in the attainment of competencies.
- Supervise students’ on-site experiences by conducting site visits and maintaining contact with supervisors to resolve academic and professional issues of concern with students and to monitor students’ progress and quality of supervision.
- Provide individualized supervision and feedback for doctoral students with regard to doctoral externship and APPIC applications, including course advisement, field training planning, application review, interview preparation, professional writing overview, and essay revisions.
- Maintain the existing alumni listserv to share job openings and professional/career advancement opportunities and facilitate identification of possible field placement sites throughout the tri-state area.
- Teach three courses a semester in addition to overseeing doctoral externships and internships.
- Contribute to the School Psychology Program academic and programmatic activities, including grading of comprehensive examinations, student orientation, admissions, and other field experience-related activities such as coordinating activities with the Psychologist-in-Training Program, New York State School Psychology Program Consortium, and New York New Jersey Directors of Training Consortium, and maintaining field experience files related to APA accreditation.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Earned a doctorate from an APA-accredited program in school psychology
- Commitment to diversity and excellence in graduate preparation
- A demonstrated commitment to social justice
- Competence in clinical practice and competence to make contributions to graduate courses in the clinical externship and internship courses sequence in school psychology
- Ability to serve as a clinical supervisor for graduate students
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and students across the college and university
- Potential to provide service to schools, professional associations, and other agencies;
Preference will be given to candidates who also have:
- Hold a license as a psychologist in New York or be licensure-eligible.
- Being bilingual and having the competence to supervise bilingual graduate students
- Successful experience in teaching, or an expressed interest in teaching, division-wide courses in clinical internship and externship courses.
- Evidence of success, or expressed interest in teaching graduate-level courses, program development, and student mentoring
- Experience, or expressed interest in becoming adept, with instructional technology applications and distance delivery methods for graduate education.
- Successful outreach activities with educational and other agencies and service to national school psychology associations.
